  1. UK Patriots 2018 Superbowl Party (SOLD OUT)

Whoops.... yes. The Anglesea is a good pub, but its about 3 miles away!
  2. UK Patriots 2018 Superbowl Party (SOLD OUT)

I'm staying near Oxford Circus. Will probably pop into a couple of Soho pubs - Old Coffee House, Brewdog - before the usual meetup at the Anglesea.
  3. UK Patriots 2018 Superbowl Party (SOLD OUT)

1 for me please Mark. Hope I'm not too late.

  5. This is an absolutely essential guide. https://www.reddit.com/r/Patriots/comments/4p6o0t/how_to_attend_a_patriots_home_game_20162017/

  8. Best Seats at Gillette

Each to his or her own. I like to be in the 100's, as close to the field as possible - I like to smell the FieldTurf to coin a phrase. Yes - you end up watching large chunks of the game on the video screens when the play is at the other end of the field. But if I want the best view, I'll watch it on TV. I want to see the speed of the game and to hear and see the big hits close up. I want to see myself on TV. And every now and again, see the crucial score in almost touching distance.
  9. Hotel room booked; Holiday Inn about a mile from the stadium. Flights on hold until I know who the Pats are playing in the weekend before or after (but just under 500 if I just do Mexico).
  10. Depends what you're looking for. I liked Denver a lot. Nice city, and some fantastic bars and restaurants. Really great craft beer scene. Local Pats fan club (Pikes Peak Patriots) arrange a good party the night before the game, and a decent tailgate. Sadly I had to unfriend the club President ahead of the election, as she was posting way too much Trump crap. But she's a nice enough person.
  11. I know that a lot of people are confident using Ace tickets - they're Boston based and have a number of physical locations around the city. Not cheap though, https://www.aceticket.com
  12. Gameday Questions

I'm feeling the same way about the Hall. OK; I've been four times, but a lot of it is feeling tired - especially the film. Yes; it's beautifully shot, but it's written from the perspective of an underdog team who shocked the sporting world 15 years ago. A new film, celebrating the dynasty since then, is long overdue.
  13. As previously announced, I'm off to Phoenix for the week one game against the Cardinals. Very good - if horrendously scalped - tickets already secured. Heading to New England for a few days on the way home. Springsteen at Foxborough on the Wednesday, and Red Sox against the Yankees at the end of the week, before the Pats on the Sunday. Anyone else going to be over that week?
  14. I think the Sams tour is a bit over-rated and touristy - remember that most "Boston" beer is brewed in Cincinnati, so the Boston brewery is mainly used for doing small batches and for show. Harpoon on the other hand is very good (and I've done a lot of brewery tours, from the tiniest micro up to the biggest brewery in Britain). They have a nice new(ish) beer hall, where all of their regular and seasonals are available - as well as some great freshly baked pretzels. The tour is informative and you end up in the tasting room where you're able to sample as many beers as you want for 10 minutes. That can be a lot of samples! I love the Salty Pig in Back Bay, which has a great beer list to accompany platters of great local charcuterie and cheese. And if your liver and stomach is up to it, the Starlite Lounge in Somerville has a legendary Monday brunch. It's rightly popular with the rest of the Boston bar trade. Killer bloody mary's to wash down waffles, bacon, eggs, cornbread etc.
  15. I've looked into flights, but there's no sensible way I can do this one and be back in California on Monday morning. A home opener remains on the bucket list.
  16. Travel to Boston

That was where the Customs official asked me where I was from. And when I said London he thought I meant the one in Ontario...
  17. I might join you. I know you're not a rugby boy, but I thought you'd have ended up in Twickenham somehow. It's a good stadium. Very different atmosphere to Wembley, but I think it will work for NFL.
  18. My most likely trip is Arizona. 12 years since the Pats have played a regular season game in the desert. Cards away at Sun Devil Stadium was my first Pats road trip, and I really want to go back. I had a couple of days in Phoenix for work after last years road trip and remembered what a fun city it is. Plus I might get to the Grand Canyon this time.
  19. And there's really not a bad seat in Twickenham - you're going to be much closer to the action than you would be at Wembley.
  20. Travel to Boston

Some people like to wear fresh, clean clothes though. Or buy a few things from the Pro Shop
  21. There's a Facebook page for Pats Fans planning to be at this one - https://www.facebook.com/events/1525710704403468/
  22. Its a nice ground. Parking is a nightmare, so you've done well.
  23. Forgot all about this until I jealously saw your posts on FB at the weekend. I'm still loyal to ASU - and it can't have matched that rainy night in the desert 10 years ago - but I've got to do one of those Dublin trips.
  24. Updated information on Patriots Tailgate Event https://www.facebook.com/events/852091931472859/ (you'll need to be a member of the group to access) I've booked a room at the group rates at the Courtyard San Diego Central. $99 plus taxes a night, which is very reasonable, but I'm happy to share if there's any other single travellers from UK Patriots.
  25. Tickets sorted (directly from the Chargers so no need for Stubhub or touts). Big group of us staying at the Courtyard, 80+ in the Pats Tailgate group at the game (sadly not all sat together, but you can't have everything). This is going to be a good one!
