International 2010

Recommended Posts

I'll be there, if it doesn't clash with the Road Trip. Subject to getting tickets, I would like to attend both events.

Likewise myself. Priority this year is the RT but if I can go to the Wembley game again I would love to.

Get your name in for the chain gang, they let me on last year so they can't be that fussy.

This will be my sixth game- 3rd over here in the uk and the first without my dad. I am too young for a roadtrip with you guys but maybe when i'm older (only 16 in march). Sounds like you have a great time.

we'll pencil you in for the 2015 roadtrip to see the "4-in a row Lombardi winners" Patriots at home to the " Haven't won a game in four seasons" Jets.and as abonus, you will be able to celebrate in that time honoured tradition that is- The Pourhouse night!

I will have made a trip to Gillette before that- been to new England 3 times but never seen the pats there. My Dad is so lucky his excuse for not going to wembley is all his money is spent because while he is working over there they are 'making' him take clients to pro bowl and superbowl- i said yeah sure dad- any chance of some time off school. He feels tight so he is paying for wembley for 4 of us whoop!

Yeah they are up again but you have to remember the ticketmaster fee on top of that so it goes over what you expect to pay.

Pats Road Trip is way out of reach for me again this year. :( I'll get there one year!

So Wembley it is then, got tickets online this morning - Club Wembley - Block 207 - front row. :)

Expensive as normal after Ticketmaster's add ons, so I've just got to keep working to pay for them now...!....

Bring on GBTP 4...!...

Think me and a couple of mates are going to go for something to do, going to try and get X-Factor tickets for the saturday night as their studios are right by Wembley. Had a good little chat with Dermott O'Leary when we were there in October  He's a Phins fan by the way <_<

... Then venture over to Boston for a December game (fingers crossed)

A bit of trivia for you... Dermot played for the Colchester Gladiators in the early '90's, (1992-94 Youth & 1995 Senior, if I remember correctly), and he returned to play in our 20th Anniversary game in 2003. Gladiators 20th Anniversary Game

surprise- the price of tickets is up again- recession definately over then?

Are they? I'm looking on ticketmaster and the maximum priced ticket is £100 - I'm sure I paid more last year for the seat.

Sale opens in 3 minutes and counting - I'm going for one of the lower endzones.

UPDATE - Got my tickets, Block 109 (North-Eastern Endzone), Row 12. Whether I actually sit in there is another matter

Anyone else got their's yet?

I went endzone deliberately, wanted to cut a few pounds out of the trip this year given it wasn't as special as the game last year.

Might go to the GBTP again, obviously depending on time constraints and the like. Looking forward to it - hoping for a similar-styled game of the Chargers vs Saints from '08 - that game was utterly bonkers.

I shall be repeating my role in yellow stripy vest on the sideline, although hopefully with a more interesting pole to hold this time.

For those going to Wembley this year and not Boston...(!)...

GBTP 4 is getting closer and events have now been announced for both Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st October.

On the Saturday there will be the ever popular animated Snail Racing, which should be Halloween themed, followed by a Halloween 'Trick or Treat' Party with games and music etc. Halloween fancy dress is highly recommended!!

Sunday is the normal fare with additional bars, food etc., (more outlets for both than last year), and I understand that the Green Man has recently been refurbished which includes improvements to the number of toilets available as well.

Both days our regular NFL merchandise seller will be there and he will be joined on Sunday by Football America UK and Colchester Gladiators merchandise, amongst others.

Entertainment on the Sunday is provided by the Colchester Gladiators Dance Team, with three performances, and other American football themed entertainment is to be announced closer to the date.

Full details can be found on the GBTP website here.

Hopefully I'll see some UKPatriots there!!

Don't forget to say hello - I'll be the busy / stressed guy on the Sunday - either as MC or at the Gladiators stall (or probably both!).... I'll be sure to get a Patriots flag up somewhere in the marquee as well..!!

Going to check out the NFLUK tailgate, but I expect I'll be disappointed yet again (even with their supposed improvements) and head to the Green Man at some point.

Assuming you mean as part of the chain crew you join BAFRA [uK referee's organisation], qualify as an official, put your name down when asked by the director of operations [the guy who works out where we all go each week] and wait and hope. I'm pretty sure I got in last year as it was the Patriots playing. A lot of us on the crew were Pats or Buccs fans. This year I'm in as one of the officials who did it last year so we aren't all new to the job. I don't expect to do it again for a while. I understand there are typically 30 applications for the 8 places.

There's a decent chance the patriots vikings could be the late game on sky because of the moss trade, does anyone know a place where we could go watch after the wembley game, either anywhere around wembley or near heathrow where me and my mate are staying. I have been told a couple of places but both of us being 16 we are likely not to be allowed in especially because my mate looks about 10. If anyone has any ides it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

JCUZA - The Green Man is 'family friendly' and we're trying to organise something for whichever NFL game is shown after the London game, but unfortunately nothing confirmed yet. I'll post on here if we get anything sorted.

And just for those who want to keep up to date.....

The Official GBTP website has been updated today with more information about both days. Check out the 'What's On' and 'News' pages at www.gbtp.co.uk.

Highlights are that attendees in Fancy Dress on the Saturday will be rewarded with a free 'shot', a hog roast on the Sunday and the main bar is open until 1am on both days!!!

It's going to be a long couple of days of fun in Wembley!!

My new friends at the Sports Bar and Grill (check out the Thanksgiving in London thread) have asked me to remind you that if you're looking for somewhere showing the Vikings @ Pats game after you're done at Wembley, they're a direct train ride away at Marylebone Station.

Bit of drab one...

You spoke too soon. I'm still recovering, a very enjoyable time but also b****y hard work, not least because the 49's lack sideline discipline.

Had a really great day out with some friends at both tailgates and then at the game. Although the first half was unbelievably poor, the second half really lit up and it had a fantastic end! Was in pretty good seats, about 20 rows back of Lloyd's touchdown.

Im still recovering too  a great secod half really woke the crowd up

I had pretty good seats in the end as nearly all the touchdowns were in the endzone i was sat behind :)

Best bit of the day for me though was sitting about 10 meters away from Jerry Rice and Morten Anderson at the tailgate and then later on when on his way out having Jerry and his escorts brush right past me :D it felt a honour just been near the guy

It was a bit of a comment on the state of both teams that the old names Rice, Elway, Singleterry, et al. were getting more attention than the current players.

I thought it was a great game, particularly for the first time it felt more like a home game for the 'home' team. Although there was quite a cheer when the Broncos scored, otherwise there seemed a lot more noise than on previous years when the 49ers were on defence, and the crowd in general really seemed to get behind the 49ers. For me, this really helped the atmosphere and made the whole thing more enjoyable. Last year was unfortunate (from a neutral perspective) given how many Pats fans there are in the UK, there was probably more noise for a Pats score than the Bucs. For the Dolphins / Giants and Saints / Chargers, the crowd seemed to cheer less than the home team might have expected, more for good play from either side (very British!).

I think it's important if we want the games to keep coming to London that the 'home' team really feels like they're going to get the support of the crowd. On this occasion, I think it helped that there are a fair few 49ers fans in the UK as well, but I would hope the 49ers left the UK recognising that they got a good reception. I was more than happy to do my bit shouting for them - I wondered if in fact that the result of the game was irrelevant to so many of those in the stadium that this meant more were happy to support the niners!

All in all, despite a slow first half, a great night out and as spectacular as ever. Perhaps the highlight for me was the slightly drunk Colts fan in the row in front of us who, instead of shouting D-Fence, was shouting Te-bow... the entire game!

I had a really good time at the game, it definitely lit up in the second half and i was pleased to see the majority get right behind San Fran and make it like a home game, enjoyed the event on the Saturday that they put on in Trafalgar square, also enjoyed the tailgate before the game, it was much bigger ad so much better this year, i bought just about every pats merch on sale, i thought it was a really good game with it being close right until the end, pre game everything was superb, then enjoyed watching the pats at the green-man afterwards, people are complaining about a bit of mud, i'd stand in whatever to watch the pats. Another thing the interest isn't dropping despite fears with 83,941 passing threw the gates. Really enjoyed the whole weekend and can't wait for next year(maybe?).

Those 3 were arguably better players than any of their current equivalents.

Turned in to a good game. I hope London gets a game next season.

Great weekend and another good NFL experience in London.

Thanks to all those who went to GBTP at the Green Man.

The weather didn't help our event this year on the Sunday, but there were loads of Patriots there after the game to watch the Pats beat the Vikings!
